The StepSaver Story

Like all good ideas, the StepSaver cart was born from necessity. To improve an age old process and bring it into the 21st century.

Bamar Plastics located in South Bend Indiana are plastic injection molders that strive to create parts that meet or exceed their customers’ expectations. As such, quality control is a very important part of that process. Like many manufacturing plants of this type, they had a central Quality Control room where parts were brought and calibrated to ensure they were to specification. Bamar asked a simple question. How can we improve the efficiency of measuring these parts?

.

They imagined a cart that could roll from machine to machine so parts are measured on the spot, saving hours of walking back and forth to the QC room and preventing the waste of production parts not quite to specification. However, they did not want to have electrical cords lying across the floor as they went from station to station creating a tripping hazard.

The first Stepsaver cart was the result of this idea. A powered mobile quality control cart that could hold the latest in measuring technology with a battery life that could last all day. A cart that could stand up to the abuse of the manufacturing arena with enough storage to hold all the necessary accessories and part samples.
